Interesting question. My kids aren't "older" at only 7 & 5. I can't say I purposly expose them to good music, they listen to and like what we listen to. Black Sabbath and Ozzy for example.
However, I do not listen to certain kinds of music, therefore nor do they. I won't listen to this candy (fluff) pop music. I hate boy bands and dumb blonde singers. Yuck. And rap is another thing they won't be exposed to. They don't need to know about who killed who with what, or who's doing what to who.
I don't like country. Period. My radios (any of them!) would self destruct if that was playing on them! lol

When my kids are old enough to choose, and enjoy their own preference of music, they will know what we do and do not like, what we can stand to hear outloud, and what needs to be kept within headphones. Till then, I make cds or copy onto his mp3 player anything he chooses, but mother approved. lol

;o)

My children were able to choose their own music; and now both like many different kinds of music and can certainly recognize true talent. Nothing forced on them one way or the other, music is a personal choice.

If they watch TV or listen to the radio they are exposed to all kinds of music. I think it's more important to have them know that there is BAD stuff out there.
