Humiliation and a public bloody nose given by the smallest kid on the block is to be hidden and forgotten.
No one truly celebrates their defeat under such shameful circumstances. America was forced to eat dirt and say uncle that day, and hopefully it will never happen again.
Americans can handle the truth, it's just too painful for most folks to think of.

I have a lot of questions about 9/11, but not because I'm unpatriotic. There are just too many things that don't add up. But like so many things in our recent history, I also believe we'll never know the whole truth about anything. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but our "leaders" sure love to dance around the truth, and hide things that are "not in the national interest," usually meaning too many politicians would get throw in prison if we found them out. So I'll keep my doubts, ask my questions, and vote my conscience.

Now that would depend on what the truth is. Most of the people that will do what you are saying are at the extreme ends of either political spectrum. I say we got hit...we tried to hit back...But I think that we took a swing that was not hard enough.
