When I first heard about the Boston scare, and Adult Swim's 'Aqua Teen' cartoon, I was annoyed that Adult Swim didn't make the necessary arrangements to place the ads. I'm still not sure if I want to go see the movie, and I'm a fan.

But after reading CNN.com, I am absolutely disgusted with the Attorney General's comments. She said, and I quote: "It had a very sinister appearance... It had a battery behind it, and wires."

A BATTERY?? WIRES?? What were the batteries connected to by wire? A bunch of LEDS?? This is how she categorizes a clear and present danger... batteries and wires? What if I lose my cell phone in Boston? Will I be suspect of criminal activity? What about a radio, or a wrist watch, what???

I think the government's response was despicably ignorant. The ads were tolerated by a dozen of other cities. I may be treading a slippery slope, but it sounds like Al Qaeda could bleed our economy dry by dropping components bought from the local Radio Shack.

It's LED-based graffiti - nothing more, nothing less.

You want to nail them for something - nail them for posting handbills without a permit.

But anybody who mistook a portable battery-powered LED sign for a bomb needs to have their head examined.

I am more disgusted by the local government and media blowing this out of proportion... Was it a bad idea? YES... Was it done with ill-intent or malice? NO... Is the country too paranoid now for its own good? HELL YES!!!

People keep saying the same line for everything, "...then the terrorists have one". Well, terrorists ONLY exist to create terror and ever since 2001 we, as a nation, have been jumping at our own shadow. Terror?!? The terrorists have won EVERYTIME someone uses the excuse that things have changed in a post-9/11 world.

It was a dumb stunt that the advertisers pulled, but I DON'T think a light-up picture of one of the Mooninites is all that 'sinister'...

I've watched the show once or twice, and I was not all that impressed, (it's no south park :D))..HOWEVER, I saw a tidbit on CNBC tonight w/ some moron from Boston who was acting like this was an all out attack from Time Warner against the city of Boston. While the two dudes hanging the signs looked like morons, all I can really say to the people of Boston (or maybe to all of massachussetts in general)

Grow a pair, STFU and take a freaking joke

It is a lite-brite. Come on Boston get a sense of humor. No other city had such a problem with this campaign. I like how everyone is dropping the "dozens of concerned 911 calls" part of the story because it did not happen. They were up for 3 weeks!!

Oh and the 70s haircuts press conference was hilarious. Cannot wait for The Daily Show tonight.

I totally disagree. Did you see how those packs were suspended from cables under the overpasses? What type of advertising is done under overpasses? Who does that? Why would authorities expect something like that to be there if it hadn't been cleared with them?

They also showed close-ups of the pack and there were all sorts of wires coming out of it. If you didn't know that the character on it was a cartoon, it looked like random lights...especially when it wasn't looked at the right angle.

I can totally understand the official reaction. It was quite justified and it was totally irresponsible of the Cartoon Network to pull this stunt.

Edit: Sprydle, I live in Nashville. We have quite a few skyscrapers, thank you. But again, never saw anything like that beneath an overpass...and I bet you haven't either.

Considering the way things are in the world today and the fact that these freaky looking things seemed to appear out of nowhere - no they did not overreact.

If someone had the forethought to get some sort of approval for placing the signs, Boston and the other cities around the country could have saved a lot of tax payers' dollars. I hope whoever was responsible for this brilliant idea is required to pay restitution for everything it cost to get this mess straightened out.

Its not like this advertisement was a surprise or anything. It was in the local newspapers. If the government would read its own newspapers, maybe they would have known that They were putting up LED's all over the city.

...and to think that this country isnt crazy enough...

Ahhh we don't know what it is so it must be dangerous! I'll definately see the ATHF movie.

I'm going to sit on the sofa with Meatwad and Master Shake and watch this one out. I hope the ads don't stop that'd be cool to see a huge illuminated Ignignokt and Err giving rush hour traffic crowds a bewildered look. ATHF is the funniest show on tv.

Don't live in a big city do ya Kathy? Spotlight and lighted ads in random locations are getting popular and used quite a bit on skyscrapers and other buildings.

i think of it incredibly is unusual that the same campaign substitute into performed out in different different cities without issues. it incredibly is the ultimate element which could ensue for the quickly to be released action picture. a super form of folk who are not hip to ATHF will pass just to work out what the hype substitute into approximately. the two the city of Boston is administered by out of touch morons or this substitute right into a planned experience (do not think of it incredibly is not accessible).

Berdovsky, an artist, told The Boston Globe he was hired by Interference and said he was "kind of freaked out" by the furor.

"I find it kind of ridiculous that they're making these statements on TV that we must not be safe from terrorism, because they were up there for THREE WEEKS and no one noticed. It's pretty commonsensical to look at them and say this is a piece of art and installation," he said.
