Yes the older you get the more you realize it. If it weren't for the bad times the good times wouldn't be so good.
Other things go in cycles too. For instance at my job, I have been there 17 years and I see them coming up with "new ideas" that were "new ideas" years ago and then abandoned. Also with styles, things that were in style a long time ago come back.

All I know is that when something bad happens I end up expecting more bad things to follow, as if some bad luck has seen my doors. And then I hope and promise to get happy again. But on the other hand when something good happens, I think: how log this is going to last?

Is it that our mind, or our heart within our mind, has certain limits for everything we tolerate naturally set, that whenever there is enough of anything a changes of mode takes place in the subconscious mind, and nothing can persist forever, neither sorrow nor happiness. I know that we all expect to be happy almost all the time, but do we sometimes expect to be sad as well without realising that we are?

Perhaps we can master the art of expectation and tune ourselves to better and finer expectations in our lives. We can remind ourselves that if a harsh winter has fallen upon us then will the spring not be to follow soon. We can stay loyal to ourselves when going get tough, in the day of need we can give ourselves good and wise company; instead of loosing hope we can have faith and believe that good times are just round the next corner. What is the difference between expectations and hopes?

If good things and bad things come in phases and we can see clear patterns forming then we can learn from this. But I have not noticed this so far in my life, as this is for the first time I am hearing this, but I promise I will keep my eyes open.

As "Chance, the gardener" impersonated by Peter Sellers would (wisely) say to the President of the USA, "after the winter, comes the spring etc."
Life is cyclic, as seasons are. And in the winter, surely the lack of daylight makes us moody, depressed or simply "sad".

Many theologians believe that these patterns are evidence of an active God who creates patterns to encourage certain behavior and beliefs. Some psychologists simply think that you create the pattern you wish to see in order to create predictability for yourself in a chaotic world.

Isn't it amazing how this happens?

This is called LIFE and the only expected thing, should be change.

Just when you're comfortable and coasting nicely......you get thrown for a loop....

Hang on, its definitely going to be a bumpy ride........

Make the most of it ;)

It's human to see patterns in things when in reality they aren't really patterns. It's a bit like people seeing an image of Elvis in their toast in the morning.

Yeah...every four or five years a larger than usual problem happens. You solve it, rest for awhile, and then the next chapter in the textbook happens.

It's more likely we impose the pattern on the events because that's how our brains work. It doesn't mean it's really there.
