I don't understand how it is NOT killing. It should have nothing to do with the woman's right to choose, but the baby's right to life.
If a pregnant woman is murdered, the person who kills her is charged with two murders: one for the woman, one for the child.
Yet, the woman can kill her own child if she wants to. It's pretty sad.
In my opinion, in 50 years we will be looking back on abortion the same way we now look back on slavery. We will be thinking "How could we DO such a thing? How barbaric!"

personally i am pro choice there are many many factors and reasons why women get abortions and i am agnist the government telling me or any other woman what they can and can't do with my body... ( i am not trying to convince anyone either this is a question with no answer really just opnion) anyway i am not to supportive of late term abortions unless the baby or mother is in extream danger( i gave birth to a baby with trisomy 18 and he was stillborn and now i wish i would have listened to the doctors advice and had a late term abortion instead of a dead baby) but at the time i was convinced they were wrong and he was fine so if i had to do it over i'd abort..i did lots of reading and there is no way that a fetus born before 26 to 30 weeks can survive even at the best hospital with the best doctors it's survival chances are so slim it's like 99.9% probility that the baby will die a baby is what is born a fetus is whats concived it than goes through another stage of development which is zygeo it is still not an infant so no i do not think that it is killing a baby it's a fetus and it can not survive if delivered of aborted i am not a baby killer or any other such thing and i think that if i would have listened to my doctor i would have not had to go through all the pain that my self my husband and our famlies went through it was the most diffacult experience we went through at this point in our lives and if it becomes illegal to have abortion as a legal option there will still be abortions preformed it will just be more expensive and highly dangerous ..i also think that men (i know your not a man ) should have no say in this issue unless there willing to get manditory vacectimies after a certin point in their lives that way they could think of what and how it would feel if the government tried to tell them what to do with their bodies and i do understand that some women are irresponsible and use abortion as a contracetive but this is another issue which if confronted would possibly solve the amount of abortions in america and that is safe sex in school if parents and schools would get over abstence and teach safe sex than i can assure you that it would reduce the amount of teen pregnancy........

Some people believe abortion is okay because it affects the mother's body and therefore it should be her choice. I personally believe it is wrong, and I do consider it killing. You wouldn't kill your pet dog just because it bit you once in a playful manner, but that affects your body. You wouldn't kill a child that you were breast feeding, and that affects your body. Just because it affects you doesn't mean you have any right over it's fate. One form of abortion that was at one time considered okay by some is called partial-birth abortion. I'm not proud of everything our current President has done, but one thing he was able to do was make partial-birth abortions illegal. It was a procedure in which the baby was basically allowed to be born and before coming fully out was induced with a drug to kill it. The baby was then removed, and rocked to sleep, to death. If that's not killing, I don't know what is. But the question really then becomes, when does a fetus become a human with rights? Some will say it's when the baby has a heart beat. My opinion is, if there's a baby in you and you know it, no matter what stage it is in, it is wrong to kill it. I am not against birth control, which prevents pregnancy in most cases. And in my opinion, if a person cannot have safe sex and use birth control, then they shouldn't be having sex at all. If it is an accident, or one of those few cases in which the birth control fails, or in the case of rape and incest, then those are obviously unfortunate scenarios, and I can't say I've ever been in that position, but I still think it's wrong to abort. To me it is killing no matter what, and if I was raped I wouldn't go and kill the rapest, nor would I go and kill the product of the rape. It's that old cliche, two wrongs don't make a right. The other part of this issue is that many doctors will claim they only perform abortions in cases of rape and incest, but then the women who go to see those doctors will claim it was rape, even though it was really their mistake. So they're lying to justify doing what would otherwise be considered wrong by some, and that's not right either.
If you want to get into religious views, the Bible has a few different references to God knowing us since we were in the womb, etc, which would indicate we have a soul from the moment we're conceived, and therefore a right to live.
Having a baby at a bad time in life can cause a lot of problems. But adoption is always an option, and even if a woman keeps her baby when it's not a good time in her life, it may be the biggest blessing she never expected. Why risk the guilt and health problems associated with having an abortion, when there are other options, and when the child did nothing wrong?
The most unfortunate thing is that it is tough for the government first of all because many Americans believe it is okay, but even if the majority of Americans were against it, if a law was passed to make all abortions illegal, then it would be done illegally, and that would be even less safe for the woman and the child involved. So although I think it is morally wrong, I would not recommend a law passed against all abortions. The best thing I can really think of would be to make it difficult to have a legal abortion, kind of like buying guns, you have to go through a screening process and prove whatever reason you have for wanting to abort. They should have to go through counceling and have the procedures and their options explained to them in full. I think it would be a real eye-opener for women who think nothing more than "it's my body, it's my choice."

I believe abortion should only happen for two reasons.
1. if the female has been raped. self-explained.
2. if the mother of the unborn baby is a known druggie and/or is clearly unable to care for herself.{mentally unstable}
Fact; Baby are sold for drugs everyday.
Fact; Most baby that are abused are done at the hands of the mother. mentally unstable or not!
Fact; if the child does make it to, let's say 13, they themselves end up raped, beaten,or abused at the hands of many, some do worse yet, like kill or rape other children.
Fact; That in most of your bigger cities the homeless population is children, kids maybe your age maybe younger, and all this because of drugs or the mother has great issues of her own,and can not care for the child, neglecting the child needs.
Fact; if we allowed abortion on these two grounds, look at the lives we would save and I'm talking about the baby's
lives in the long run.
At one time and I can't remember where but I think it was a judge that was paying mothers with drug problems to have abortions,it wasn't free money that they could spend freely I'm sure there was something else to that, but I can not remember. Well I hope this helps you and I'm glad to hear that your not pregnant.

I'm very much pro-choice.
As a scientist I find it difficult to judge WHEN a fetus is actually a person, but even if you grant that status to a fetus early in pregancy it should not be at the expense of a womans rights.
As a woman, I don't think I personally could have an abortion, I want very much to be a mother someday and can't see myself having one. However, I would like to be free to make the decision for myself, to have the right to an abortion if it was not in my best interests have a child. If there was something severely wrong with a child I was carrying, I would almost certainly terminate and many anti-abortionists would agree (not all, some are really rabid about it). But what about women who become pregnant after rape or spousal abuse, or who are mentally unprepared for pregancy, or who are physically endangered?
As to morals and ethics, who decides the acceptable moral standard?
I guess I am "Pro-Life" in so far as I can't envision too many situations where I would want an abortion, however I am "Pro-Choice" in that my personal feelings about abortion should not in any way interfere with another woman's rights and beliefs.
And I'm sorry guys but I don't think this is an issue where men should be given much hearing - after all it is the women who carry children and whose bodies are the incubators so I think any commentary should be heavily weighted towards women's opinions.

If you look back in history at different cultures, baby killing was actually quite common.
Not enough food, shame, apathy, you name it, there were many reasons for it and it was done often. Different cultures had different preferred methods for it. Some strangled the baby as soon as it was born. Some compressed the chest until it died. Some buried it alive. Etc.
Now with the miracle of modern medicine, baby killing has become "cleaner" and easier to rationalize.
But it is the same thing; killing a human. The stage of life has nothing to do with that fact.

I was raised Catholic...and to believe that abortion was wrong. It was ingrained in me. When I got older...certainly to the age that I might be faced with that question in a personal sense, I took some time to actually form my own opinion. And what I came up with is the fact that I am neither for nor against it. It is a very personal decision - so I guess that makes me Pro-Choice.
I don't believe that a fetus is a human life...I see it as a potential human life. After the first trimester, however, I believe that it has formed enough to be recognized as human life, and therefore, must be protected by our laws.

No, I do not think abortion is moraly ok. This comes from my strong Christian background. The bible says that "before you were in your mothers womb, God knew you" which would implicate to me that a fetis has a future even before they are made.
On the other hand, I think human life is sacred, but if a woman is raped or the baby is a "crack" baby, there are acceptions to this rule.

I think that if you have a health problem or you were rape than yes you should be able to have an abortion with out putting up with anyones bull. If you used protection and it failed and you know that you can not emotionally or afford a baby than your choice. Me I would never only because what if you have an abortion and you will never be able to conceive again.

I'm going to keep it short and sweet here.
It should NOT be a political issue, NEVER should have been a political issue. It's between the woman, her partner if he is involved, and her God. That's it. Its no one else's business.
