I am a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders, so yes and I have done so. It is an American group, not a Conservative one. It is an extreme right wing conservative group that is responsible for the vast majority of the demonstrations, though. The main instigator is Rev. Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist , but there are numerous others.
I believe in free speech and the right to peacefully assemble. Everyone gets these rights. They have the right to do what they do, just as we have the right to shield the family and say the protesters are idiots.
Now you know 2.

I would stop anyone from picketing a soldiers funeral, no matter what your views on a war, that man or woman gave everything they had to defend us. And that person should be held in our hearts with the highest Honor no matter how you feel about the war that person died in. Soldiers are there for us so we have the right to picket their funerals and every other right and freedom we enjoy in this country. When the time comes for them to go to war, they don't ask why or how come, they go because they are brave and believe that we as a country deserve to be free. And I for one am thankful that they are there doing the job that not everyone is willing to do for this country...

In America, everyone has the right to free speech and assembly. As long as that is a protected right, NO ONE has the right to stop them.
Now lets talk about morality. And lets not make it a liberal or conservative argument. Protesting a funeral is despicable. Protesting a war is one thing, but to set up a picket line at a soldier's funeral is disgusting. It can't be stopped, as it is their right to demonstrate freely - but it certainly shows the individuals' true colours.

I would. This is ridiculous. What can I say? The world is full of misguided people of all sorts. Anyone who does this sort of thing needs to have a cerebro-rectal extraction operation.
Now, that having been said, I find your anecdote to be a bit suspicious. Just because someone tells you a fanciful story on an airplane does not mean you should go drawing conclusions and publishing them, with all due respect.
I've told a few stories on airplanes myself. Lots of time. Nothing to do. Imagination starving for something.
Another reason I find this suspicious is I have never met an American that does not support the troops, liberal or otherwise. I have never met a liberal or anyone else who blames the troops for anything in Iraq.
Everyone knows that the problem is exactly with the chickenhawks who never served -- Bush with his cush National Guard stint courtesy of dad that he never bothered to show up for, Cheney with his five deferments and "better things to do."
That's who liberals are upset with. And, I believe, for good reason. They have perpetrated perhaps the greatest strategic blunder in U.S. history. The cost has been mind-boggling all-told. Totally unacceptable.

so you think those religious fanatics doing this are liberals huh???
personally, i think i would daydream about picking up two bricks and walking toward the idiots protesting at funerals. the first unfortunate person doing al the shouting would get the first brick straight in the face, and then I'd ask...."who else wants one?!"
but since it would probably be less jail time, and less lawsuits, i think I'd just have to pull out the ol paint ball gun and start a storm of paint balls on them.
JFYI the freaks on FOX news protesting at these funerals, weren't liberals. They were the same fanatics protesting fictional movies like "da vinci code".

When did you ever get the idea that every Democrat/Liberal is so gung-ho against out fighting soldiers that the bulk of us would ever do this?
My best friend in high school faught the first Iraqi war back in 1991. He saw combat first hand and thank God made it home alive. I was proud of the fact that he had fought for this country and proud of the fact that I could call him a friend. He was indeed brave just as the men and women in Iraq now are very brave. I support them and I pray for their safe return and I would NOT stand by while ANYONE decided to protest or belittle their decision to defend this nation.
I support and appreciate our fighting troops enough to know that I do not want some unlearned, unqualified, spoiled rotten C-student idiot in charge of their lives. I love them enough to want better leadership for their troops. I want them to have the armor they need and the weapons they need and the tools they need to keep themselves alive and in one piece.
But our current leadership has failed miserably here. They are without adequate armor or ammunition. Most of them have asked family members to send them their own rifles from home because their weapons are malfunctioning... and they've since been instructed not to because God forbid our armed forces clear some red tape in order to properly arm these soldiers.
I'm not against those who are fighting the war and neither are most Liberals. We're against the fact that this war is in very incapable hands. I feel deeply inside each time the news announces another soldier's death. I want them protected and I want them home safely and with their family and loved ones. Most importantly, I want someone in charge who knows what the hell they're doing. Bush and Rumsfeld have messed this war up so badly I can't even stand to look at it... and you want to accuse me and all other Liberals of being these tree-hugging, dirt-munching druids holding "love-ins" and placing flowers into the barrels of guns. It's not 1967 anymore, we stopped spiking the Kool-aid with acid and we've grown up a lot.
Don't confuse a profound disagreement with the current people in charge with a general disrespect for those who are willing to sacrifice their lives for our country. Those soldiers didn't start this war and they're not the ones screwing it up. I would sooner march in front of Bush himself with a picket sign than to disrespect the memory of one fallen soldier.

Well, we do have freedom of expression and freedom of speech in this country. As long as they are not doing any thing wrong, I see no reason to stop them. Even though I do not understand why someone would do such a thing, but just because we do not agree with what they are protesting does not give us the right to stop them.

As a liberal, yes I would stop them, there is a time and place for protest and that isn't the time nor the place. We must support the troops and mourn along with the grieving families.

If I chose to attend a funeral for a fallen comrade, and anyone tries something like this, I "PROMISE" you they will soon know the flavor of blood, mixed with dirt, this **** doesn't happen in my presence( I believe in the freedom of speech, and I also believe in accepting responsibility for that speech) Just like they have the right to say it,I have the right to accept full punishment for feeding them some Mother Earth!!!!

I will say you are assidious in your attempts to bash liberals on every front . Not all anti-war demonstrators agree or condone the actions of those protesting at funerals .
However as bad as that may be the return of torture sanctioned by Mr.Bush has done nothing but set this country back 200 years to the days of beating and killing slaves for trying to escape .Bush seems to rely on camarilla and I wonder if you are not one of them .
