Some of them genuinely care, some do it for good publicity. What is noticeable in either case is that they tend to go only for the glamourous causes - eg. helping sick children/poverty stricken families in hot countries where they get to visit them, have a nice holiday and look charitable. Ever seen any celebrity working for Help The Aged or anything like that? Nope, me neither.

I think both, they do it for publicity and because they may feel guilty by all the money they make.
When ever you see a celeb doing one of those 15 sec commercial about spending time with your kids or help a kid to read, I think they also get tax credits for that, donating their time is a tax right off

In most cases, it's simply for the publicity. Celebrities need publicity to survive. They need to kept in the public eye in order to work. Folks must still be interested in them. Sure they are a few who are genuinely interested in helping the unfortunate, yet those few are few and far between.

Not really a publicity stunt. It is more of a charity thing. They have the cash and want to share. They don't mind the publicity either.

Both. They make a lot of money and their CPA says you need to spend $3 million or the IRS will take it, give it to charity. Now they actually end up supporting a charity they care about, just they are forced to do it to lower their taxes.

Celebrities love to lend their names to causes. While some have special causes/organizations that they want to help, some do unfortunately only do it to keep their names in the limelight.
I've often wondered why not just give them the money! Example: Oprah started her "Angels" network to help out the homeless and I thought hell you could just give them 1/2 your money and they would be able to help a lot of people, but instead she chose to solicit money form her viewers.

I agree that it would no longer be this sort of enormous deal. besides the reality that it must be a tragic actuality, it holds actual that many view action picture star information as exciting. base line, they're only human beings like each and every physique else, with the comparable problems.

I think it is because they just want to support a certain charity and allow their time to promote it in hopes that people will also support the same charity.
