If you sat down and thought about it you would realize that if everyone voted on everything, what you would end up with is majority and mob rule.

During the civil rights movement most white Americans thought that African Americans were moving too fast in gaining their full rights as citizens of this country.
So that's why most democracies are really representative democracies because in many nations the mob rule principle would actually create more problems that it solve.

According to conservatives no country is democracy, which is of course an idiot stance.
