Born out of terrorism and land theft.
Consolidated by death squads and ethnic cleansing.
Expanded by war.
Financed by the American tax payer.
A pariah state that survives in its present form solely because of the disproportionate influence that Jews have in the west.

The Voice: Your heated response and accusation of anti-semitism is so typical of anything asked of the Jewish race. I am Jewish and consider the askers question perfectly legitimate. What Bob says, is of course, the truth. Israel was founded on guilt because of the Holocaust and just about every dodgy deed/action of the Israeli governments since has been swept under the Holocaust carpet. In my opinion, the Holocaust belongs to a generation of Jews and should not be hijacked by modern day Israelis as an unspoken excuse for just about anything.

Yes of course Israel is a legitimate state. I hope they don't sign a peace treaty with the Palestinians though. The Palestinians hate the Jews and they would only want more land. The road map to peace is garbage. Palestine and Israel will never live in peace side by side.

The UN establish Israel as a legitimate country, and its declaration of independance and statehood was recognized by nearly every country in the world. So I would say yes

yes it is, After the end of the 2nd world war, British did their utmost to try and stop the Jews from entering those lands, but due to pressure from the Americans it had to relent. Britain was not in favour of the state of Israel from the start. It is the land where their people came from and as history tells "the Israelite shall return" here Endith the first lesson !!!!

It's recognised as such by international law, which - rightly or wrongly - is what counts, so we're stuck with it.
Legitimate in a broader sense, including natural justice? No; no one in the area had a vote on the issue, and it was an act of utter madness, born of the West's guilt for the holocaust, Jewish influence in the States, and a misguided British foreign policy that gave "Zionism" credibility at the turn of the 20th century.

Yes, but it's in the wrong place. They should've put it on an island far far away from the Arabs. Then maybe there might've been a bit more peace and a bit less bloody war.

It is. You might agree or disagree with their brand of democracy. You might agree or disagree with their policy towards Palestinians. You might agree or disagree with their policy regarding religious matters. But Israel is a legitimate state.
