Sure, the websites will post experiences, but do they only post the good experiences?

We are thinking about swapping our 2 bedroom condo in Bavaria, Germany with someone in Vancouver, B.C., but have not advertised on Craigslist yet.

We did and it was a wonderful experience. Not only did we have a great out-of-country visit, we made many new friends during the experience. We didn't use craiglist, but made the contact through a mutual interest association. For example, if you are keen on sports, there are many sport clubs and associations of like-minded people. if you are into arts, there are the 'Friends of the Museum' or 'Friends of the Gallery' or 'Friends of the Symphony types of associations. Or you could contact a university or college to arrange a swap during their holiday periods, or send an ad to the BCTF (BC Teacher's Federation) which publishes a newsletter that goes to all teachers, and carries classified ads and even has a column devoted to swaps.
Good luck and i hope you enjoy your visit to Vancouver

How long and when did you want to do this? That is the biggest hurdle - matching times that both parties want to swap.
I go to your local service club ie: Rotary, and ask them to contact a Rotary club in Vancouver and out it to the club for interested parties, as theses would all be upstanding and trustworthy business people. They would in turn, of course, want references from you as well.
Love to hear how you make out!
