Please take no offense at this, nor do I mean any to legitimate "agents"

Consider that the best time to engage one is actually when you no longer have the need to.

They are in the business of a percentage, and for it you assume they will find work for you. If they don't then they also have no income beyond the original from you.

Assess if you can, their client base, and how aggressive theye are in procuring work for others.

Your plan, while a nice dream, assumes you already have talent, and experience, and credentials, and enough cash to keep you in peanut butter at the very least.

What might be wrong with working in NYC? Certainly there is similar work and conditions there.

The actor is the one responsible for "booking" the job. The agent can only submit you for a role. If the actor fails to perform adequately, to book the role, the problem is with the actor, not the agent.

In L.A and NYC, you will find professional Talent Agents.
