Although this answer will get me yelled at by Sabre fans I'm going with no. The Sabres have a similar situation to the Dallas Stars of last year. In the regular season a record can become inflated by shootout wins and 4-4 OT wins however in the playoffs there is no shootout and the OT is played 5-5 so less open ice for Buffalo to take advantage of their speed. The "New NHL" regular season is very different than the playoffs which are very much like the old NHL.

They *SHOULD* win the cup. But they need to be consistent. They have the talent and they're a great team which they have proved to us already this season. That being said, they cannot afford to slump like they did the past few weeks. If they drop 3 in a row in the playoffs, who's to say that they'll come back and win the series. Also keep in mind that it seems the teams that beat us up are all in our conference which will make it a long, tough playoffs. Ottawa, Montreal, even the Leafs (if they make it) all have a pretty good shot to beat us. But as long as the Sabres stay healthy, play the way they've showed us they can, and don't get too comfortable and cocky (but at the same time staying confident) they should bring the cup to the good ol' B-LO!

They have an excellent chance. Not only are they one of the fastest skating teams in the NHL, they can be very physical as well. They have four lines that can score, excellent defense, and an even better goaltending situation with two top goalies in the league. They have the number one offense(goals scored) in the league and great chemistry. Granted their powerplay is struggling right now, but i'm sure it will get back to where it was earlier in the season. They should have won the Stanley Cup last year, but a depleted defense due to injuries hurt them. If they can stay healthy, WATCH OUT!!!!

If there was ever a year for it would be this year, and as a sabres fan I think they are going to. However, it is a long season left and a long playoffs so I think it will be a hell of a ride to see if they can finally do it and give all us loyal fans and cup.
Before any tries to call me as a bandwagon, I have never ever turned from my team as I have supported them since the first game I went to in 87

No... when i look at Buffalo i see the same kind of team that i see with the Senators... there too soft... besides someone like Andre Roy who do they have.. this reminds me of the 03 Senators... they were fantastic in the reg season but lost the conf finals to NJ... It was also this time of year they started to slow down too... as i've noticed from the last 3 weeks or so... Personally i think the Sharks or the Devils will win it this year... its my 2 picks for the finals...

HA HAAA!! Nope No Nay Nada Buffalo is not built for the playoffs not at all.. Also the all star selections have nothing to do with who is best it just means people from Buffalo have no Jobs and have the time to sit on their butts and vote for players that have no business in an AHL all star game to a NHL all star game. Briere was the only worthy one..

Yes. They own every division except their own, in which they are still above .500. They are finally getting healthy, and rumors have it Regier may make a move to sure up the defense. Paetsch is doing a good job no matter if he plays forward or defense, and if they make a move, a physical defenseman would be the best move to make.
The only way I see them not winning is if they face Anaheim, who is recovering from the injury bug as well, and those two teams, when healthy, can't be touched.

why not? They have a very good team and the players and fans are hungry for that first cup. I have a good feeling about Drury, Briere, Miller and coach Lindy Ruff hoisting the cup in Buffalo this season.

The Sabres are definitely going to win it this year. They would have last year if they hadn't had so many injuries. Go Sabres!
