I'd prefer to live by the ocean but the countryside comes a very close second as long as its a tiny pretty village with nice people, a good shop, a nice pub that does good food and maybe a nice little church too, don't care how far away it is from the city in fact the further the better.

I prefer the countryside as there are no hustle and and bustle of the suburbs or city! When I retire, I plan of building on my land I purchased 10 years ago in the countryside of Arkansas 25 miles outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas! Closet town is 6 miles for anything I need. Anything else, it's only 25 miles to Hot Springs!

I'd prefer the country near the sea too. I liked visiting a place in Cornwall. It's used on a series with Martyn Clunes playing a Doctor or something, 'Port Isaac' It's next to the sea. I also need the countryside to go camping if i feel like too. Watching the night sky is amazing. I hear you can't see it in the cities ;)

I live in a lovely little mountain town in western north carolina. There is about 4 inches of snow on the ground and more lovely white stuff falling right now. I am about 1/2 a mile from a lovely, flowing water fall. When I need my city fix-I high tail it to Atlanta in about an hour and a half.........wouldn't trade where I live for anything, except to go back to England, where I was born and raised

Definitely the country and I have lived in both places. I prefer living in the country even though it can be really clicky and slower than molasses in a lot of ways. I am fairly close to a huge city, about 30 minutes away, also about 30 minutes away from the ocean. I really can't complain.

I lived in the city growing up, now I'm in a small town. I really miss the city life, things just move a little to slow for my taste in a small town. Although, the people are nice here, I will miss that when I move back to the city.

Where I really want to live is in one of those cottages that Thomas Kinkade paints. Where I live is great, too. It is not city but close enough to it. It is on a lake. The houses are close but we have the best driveway on the lake for parking and a huge yard down to the water. We are luckier than most.
