E.g. This Yahoo forum might be looked at as an extension of the right to free speech that is valued so highly by millions of people.

However, here at the Yahoo forum, one frequently encounters people who verbally abuse with name calling those who have other philosophies than their own? Why can we not honor each other's rights more?

Haven't we had enough violence from our daily news? Why can we not enjoy respectful debates or exchanges of ideas?

The 2% that disrespect other people need to be reported as abuse or voted down. Do you vote against answers that are dumb or insulting? If you don't vote, you aren't using the tools provided.

Their being rude and nasty is part of their right to freedom of thought as well despite the fact that their thinking may be flawed.
You should honor their right to be wrong, too !!
