You're an idiot if you can't see why Boston authorities reacted the way they did. Not wide enough to be a bomb?? Where did you get that?
Here's a large square object hanging beneath an overpass with wires and lights coming out of it! Who in their right mind would think, "Gee, that must be an advertising package!" as opposed to "Gee, that could be a bomb!" They would have been idiots NOT to consider it to be suspicious until proven otherwise. And the Cartoon Network was totally irresponsible for pulling the stunt.
Main transportation arteries are high targets of opportunities for terrorists, BTW. It's not paranoia when there really are people out there wanting to attack you.

No, I doubt they're ALL idiots.
1) A close inspection (heck, via binoculars even!) by a person with minimal electronic or technical knowledge was enough to determine the nature of these objects. This is the exact type of knowledge you would HOPE that a police bomb squad would posses.
2) These signs were in placed with the intent of grabbing attention and were built using bright LEDs. The fact that these were in-place for 2 weeks or more should tell you that they in fact were NOT that suspicious looking. The PD can't say that they were suspicious devices that looked like bombs without accepting the fact they had been ignored up to that point.
Boston is a home to some really top-notch universities (MIT/Cambridge right next door...), but I guess they all move far away after they graduate!

What amazes me is that those things were in place for close to three weeks in Boston and 9 other cities.
Why didn't anyone else think it was a bomb, and why, after 3 weeks did it happen.
I've seen them in NYC, and knew that it was for Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and I can understand that not everyone would know that, but come on!, po-lice... do a little investigating before you scare the sh*t out the entire population of a major american city. It was a lite-brite fer chrissakes.

Paranoid? What if it was bombs?? Not being on top of things is what got us 9/11--so why should people not be paranoid? It could have been staged from terrorists to watch how our security is run here. Idiots? I think not--they were doing their jobs.

That is a little harsh but maybe someone was trying to make a political career on this, like the guy who is going to put Brandy in jail for a car wreck.
