you know as well as I.. MOST would fail. Put them in groups. The ones that would make excellent parents? Go! The ones that need to work on it, or are too young? Wait, learn, and we'll see. The ones that should be sterilized on site?? {which would, no doubt, be the largest group}...Snip, snip! Girls who "accidently" get pregnant?... too stupid to practice Birth-Control, makes them too stupid to raise a child...Give them a chance to pass the tests, {WITH DADDY, of course}, If they do? Fine. If they don't? This baby goes to a deserving couple waiting to adopt. Go ahead, yell at me, say what you will..But what do YOU suggest? Let the abusers, freaks and idiots breed on? Let them create more abused, sad, angry children that continue the cycle? Yeah, that's working out well, isn't it? We need a license to drive, to hunt or catch a fish, but having a baby? ANYBODY! No brains required! If you wish...We'll even pay for it with our taxes, AND give you food stamps you can trade for drugs!!

i remember when i was 13, we had to parent a bag of flour.... i think that that is stupid. i think that all parents should take classes for their own benefit.
i have a three year old son, and i am also a preschool teacher. but i started taking child development, mommy and me classes, and infant cpr way before i got my teaching job.
i think it's important for parents to educate themselves before they bring someone else in the world.

I agree that some people should had never had children. Yet, those children came into the world for a reason. I think that people who are abusers should either give up their baby or should be closely monitored. Parenting classes are a good idea especially for the young teenage girls. I'd bet they think twice before having sex if they really know how much work and expensive having a child is.

Oh boy!! I sure hope YOU are not a parent. Seems like you are one angry person. What?? Not loved enough by your mom or dad so that this happened to you? I have 2 kids, who are both happy, healthy and in the top percentage of their classes in school. I am a single parent, and I don't think YOU should be telling me that I need a parenting class - before or after having my kids.
Grow up and get a life!!! We aren't all idiots and with shallow thinking minds such as you, nor are we all abusers. And there are a HUGE percentage of those on welfare because their deadbeat spouses left them with the children with no job, money and obsolete working skills. Working at Walmart doesn't cut it when you get left high and dry by your spouse and you have multiple children at home. I know, I was the one who was left with a 1 year old and a 3 year old. I went on welfare, for 6 months while searching 8 hours a day, dragging my kids from workplace to workplace. SO DON'T PREACH AT ME ABOUT WELFARE OR THOSE ON WELFARE!! YOU DON'T KNOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES YOU BASTARD OF EVERYONE ON IT. Oh, and it did take me 6 months to find my job, which I've had now for 10+ years.

How, exactly, would one enforce that rule? Hide a District Attorney under each bed in the nation? Don't we have enough lawyers in the U.S. already? Also, birth control is not 100%, and it is against some religions. (I know you have to know the Every Sperm is Sacred song.) Forced birth control and sterilization would be a violation of their First Amendment rights.
It's a nice dream, but that's all it is. Personally I feel that if you can't keep a houseplant alive and thriving for at least 5 years you are unqualified to parent. Which immediately rules me out even if I am one of the smart ones who could ace a test.

Who will fund the classes? How would couples qualify to attend? What will the classes teach? Who is the expert that will write the curriculum? Who determines the criteria for pass/fail (what exactly is an "excellent" parent)?
Who would YOU choose to determine whether you are a potentially "excellent" parent? The government? The media? Law enforcement?
I suggest that you devote your passion to showing kindness and charity to the children that will eventually become parents - with hope that they, in turn, show the same to their children.

If someone expects me to pay for their child, I think they should be more than willing to jump through these hoops.
I also think that if the girl won't go after the "baby daddy" for some money, she shouldn't get any of ours. I want the child's father named and held responsible for supporting the kid financially as much as he can before we have to chip in. If she says she was raped and doesn't know who, there'd better be a police report on that rape. No report, no rape, no money from me!
If the "baby daddy" won't get a job in order to support the mistake he made, then he can go to jail.
