You don't say which superstition you're talking about, but generally if 'believing' in a superstition is the same as 'knowing' about its effects or the reasons behind its creation, then it would seem to me, once one knows then belief, to a truly open mind, follows naturally.

Well, it's just like believing in any religion. It gives purpose to our fear. Now I grew up performing, so I'm familiar with the theatre superstitions and follow some myself, just for good luck.

No advantages, only disadvantages. All forms of superstitions can only be removed by intellectual learning and by mature thinking.

I see no real advantages in believing in nonsense. Indeed, there are many disadvantages instead. Such a habit makes one less able to cope with Reality.

Belief is a powerful thing. Better to find or make your own beliefs though than to perpetuate those of others.Theirs may not necessarily be good. You have the power to change all of that with your own.

I can think of one. If you don't walk under ladders, you reduce your chances of being struck by an accidentally dropped hammer.
