In UAE, Saudi, Egypt, or Mauritius - what are the creepy crawlies like? I mean, are there big spiders, or snakes or cockroaches etc found in these places?
I would associate spiders and snakes with Australia - but would like to know what to expect in Africa or Middle East.
Thanks

Have come across roaches in Lybia, nothing in Yemen, millions of mozzies in Ghana, nothing of note in Syria, nor in Qatar.

in Mauritius, I remember plenty of Ghekos, but presumably they were eating the insects. (some nasty creatures in the sea though)
In hot/barren places insects and spiders seem to be absent

I have heard tell of Camel Spiders in the Sahara, which apparently anethaetise you in your sleep and eat your face off, but I never came across one

But NO wasps, which was rather nice

Worst place I ever suffered mozzie bites was Malta

snakes and spiders are a common part of the eco system all over the world and Africa has it's fair share of bugs and nasties.

Certain parts of Jordan have scorpions and snakes.
In the summer there are vicious mosquitos that seem to leave larger than normal bites.
