They hunt at night too. I've see shows on those channels that show them hunting at night. It's just harder for the audience to see at night when they have to use night vision.

These big cats a can hunt just about anytime they want. Yes, nocturnal. The leopards especially. The reason we have not be able to see the night events is the lack of technology. However, in recent years biologist have adapted military methods of night time surveillance. There have been several documentaries on PBS using these methods.
A little warning here. Discovery Channel makes its money by selling ads. So beware when watching these programs. They tend to appeal to the politically correct. Programing on PBS tends to be more straight forward.

Well they can do both.Lions are nocturnal so are leopards. Its easier I suppose hunting at night, because most of the books/channels say they prefer to hunt at night or after dawn.I say it does not matter, because either way it goes both cats have night vision.Lions sometime do need to hunt duriing the day they get hungry ya know.Although 1 meal can last lions for about another week.Of course they eat giant amounts of preys.

Though the wild cats like to hunt at night because they can see much better than the other animals, they also can and do hunt during the day, though this causes them to lose their advantage. It all depends on their level of hunger and the abundance of prey during various times of the day or night

its true that lions and leapards hunt at nihgt but more so leapards than lions because leapards like suprising their prey. Lions hunt mostly during day time unless they are hungry enough to hunt at at night. The male lions hunt at night.

Shakensum is right. It's also easier to find them in the day and cheaper to use regular equipment.
