If a HR guy asked me how to configure DNS what do I say ? or what is DNS ? anyone ? or what are the steps to config DNS ?

DNS = Domain Name Services
It's a way for a computer to be able to look up the IP addresses of other systems... or look up the names when you just have an IP address. You use a DNS server in your ISP to tell you the IP address of yahoo when you give a url of www.yahoo.com. It's a better way than making entries on every computer in the hosts file.
Configuring it... it's a major job. You need to define what area your DNS will cover, what upstream servers it needs to ask for name translations that are outside it's area and what structure of DNS servers you require for your site.
If you've never built a DNS server before, it is tricky to set it up from scratch. If your company wants one set up then they'd be better off getting a consultant in to work with you so you know what he built and how to maintain it.

You tell the guy that you don't need to configure DNS. Your work is likely using DHCP for all IP addresses and you won't need to manually enter a DNS server. Your ISP usually has a DNS server that they can give you if you have to manually assign an IP address.
You could set up DNS servers if you are hosting some things on your network, but otherwise I would not worry about that.

DNS ( Domain naming System) is wast topic, you can ask windows / linux network and then u have to answer accordingly.. again in short also you can say a system that can give u IP to Name and Name to IP resolution.
