That sounds like a very nice thing to do for her... I would write her a little note inside the card saying. I remembered that today was your birthday and I wanted to say Happy Birthday. I like Balloons too... Good Luck!!! I think every friend deserves an acknowledgment of their Birthday without any strings attached!!

How about "Happy Birthday, from the guy down stairs". It's nice to know someone remembered your birthday and I would personally appreciate it if someone greeted me, even if we just know each other and aren't close. I wouldn't even mind if the dude was 20 years older than me.
It would be kinda freaky though, if it were a balloon. It just doesn't put out the same reaction from words.

Unsure in what way? Like rapist unsure, or maybe she likes you unsure? If she shared with you the fact that it is her b-day then yes it is safe to recognize her with something such as a balloon on her door. The card on the car is a bad idea, it sounds like a stalker.
Truly, if you are not intrested in her than keep the astrology stuff to yourself , and unnecessary contact to a minimum.

There is nothing wrong with putting a birthday balloon& card at her door. If you don't want to be misunderstood about the card, get her a "happy birthday, from a friend" card.

My girlfriend tells me that tying a balloon on her doorknob almost equates to my tying a birthday-balloon, for my girlfriend's birthday, on my knob. Same with leaving a greeting card on her car....they are passive-aggressive "hit ons".
You like her.
If you don't want to 'hit on her', then don't get her anything and the next time you see her in the hall--preferably on her birthday...just say, "Hey, Süßes Ding mit einem reizenden Kolben (Sweet-thing with a cute butt)! Happy Birthday!!"

Awe!!.. I think that would be great.. The ballon is a good idea.. The card on her car? As long as it isen't a mushy card.. After three years, I am sure she knows your not hitting on her.. Or you could just send it in the mail.. There is nothing wrong with you telling her happy birthday.. P.S. I am a girl so I know best..lol
Good luck..

I think you sound very friendly, sensitive and nice.
I think a balloon or soemthing simple would be nice. I think a greeting card is a bit too much, as you don't really know her THAT well, do you and you don't want her to think that you're a bit stalkerish.
So yeah, I think the balloon would be fine.

If you talk on a regular basis and have lived in the same building for 3 years I would imagine it would be a nice gesture.
Personally I would be thankful that you remembered and if it's something impersonal and meaningless than hopefully she won't think anything of it.

Why not just bring it up the next time you see her? Spending money on something may be seen as pressure to be closer than you have been, but letting her know you did remember might be the first step in making her more comfortable to recieve something like that at another date. A holiday not specifically focused on just her, like Christmas, might be the best time to send something if it's something that you would feel nice doing.
