Isn't A&D prequel to the da vinci code

It isn't a big deal...I read Da Vinci Code before Angels and Demons and it didn't make that much of a difference-I enjoyed them both as much as I would have if I had read them in the opposite order.

Keep on reading!

I did what you're in the process of doing. What I wanted to know as I was reading Da Vinci Code was what had happened in Vatican City, which is hinted at here but detailed (THE plot) in Angels and Demons.

I think you'll be fine going as you are. It is a prequel, but not too much because you don't really get to know any characters that are in both except the main one.

I think many people's first book of Dan Brown was The Da Vinci Code; [it was mine]. I started reading Angels&Demons but never got a chance to finish it. I don't think it makes a difference. The only part where Dan Brown refers to A&D is when he talks about the relationship with this girl. But I haven't quite read A&D so I wouldn't know.

Angels and Demons was written before the Da Vinci Code, as was Digital Fortress, but there are no characters common to these novels so you can read them in whatever order you damn well please :-)

No, the two don't relate to each other in terms of plot. Angels and Demons is the better book though.

With respect, I think that is like asking 'Should I pee first before I take a dump?'. Both are connected to waste products, and given that both of the books you mention are c*ap, it makes no difference either way.

If you want a REALLY great (and not heavy) read, check out Adam Williams' 'In The Palace Of Heavenly Pleasure'. Really great and 1,000,000,000,000,000 times better than Dan Brown.

U do not need to read A&D first. There is one mention in DC about the "Vatican Affair". Not going to be a problem. Read them in what ever order you feel like.

I have heard they are basically the same book, just different titles. Also, remember, they are pure fiction. There are some facts, but for the most part, it's just a fiction story, I've met to many ppl who follow it like a cult.

I read both books. I don't think it matters which one is read first. Hope you enjoy them both.
