Well generally Desktops are going to be a better buy for the same stats (laptop vs desktop) But if money isn't an issue, just buy a really nice gaming laptop that'll meet your needs. Alien Ware makes very nice and very expensive gaming laptops. If money is an issue, then find out what the REQs are for the games you want and see if you can find a laptop that will work (both in your budget and performance). If you cant find a laptop that'll work, then just get a desktop and play when you have more time (5 days @ school V.S. 2 days @ home) at home you could play all day long, at school you may only get to play when you arent studying/in class

It's a matter of preference. The laptops today are extremely well priced and have the same features as the desktops. If you're looking at some hefty gaming I would suggest the desktop. If you're looking for something portable and can "do the job" get a laptop.

You can get some high en laptops that will play all the recent games for not that bad a price.

Yes you can connect the peripherals to a laptop same as a desktop. It's the same stuff in the box just more compact (make sure there are available USB ports and you'll be set).

The question you should be asking is PC or MAC?

MACs are getting more and more popular and now that the MAC can run Windows I think they're going to muc more "popular" in the next little while. They are also not as prone to viruses as Windows based machines are and are built for multimedia (music, videos, movies...).

Hope you find something you like.

These days laptops are gaining rapidly on the desktop for performance. Either would work for the limited uses you have mentioned. You may not be aware that HP and Compaq are made by the same people now. Virtually any machine you buy right now is going to be Vista compatible. For all the bells and whistles, you will need a 3d video card.

Depends on what yon plan to use it for...If you want it for a stay at home check e-mail play games ,download music , etc I woud get a Desktop. If you are more of a business man or traveler I would go with a laptop because of their ease of wireless internett and the capability of doing pretty much whatever a desktop can.

Negatives and Positives for...
Desktops are not verry portable and take up a good deal of space they are cheaper for the most part and have much more memory than a taptop.

Laptops are in a little more fragile dont have near as much hard drive space and unless you have a wireless ethernett connection hooking and unhooking from printers ,scanners cameras etc can be a pain but for there size, portibility cappable speeds and accessaries and the fact of filling up the hard drive space they do have would be kind of hard they can be pretty great too.

So it is really all up to what you need and want in a computer.

HP and Compaq are about the same laptop. They just have different price points sometimes. Get the most for your money.

Without a doubt buy a laptop, then you have a portable DVD player, portable MP3 player and can experience your computer anywhere and can travel and get free Internet access from Wifi networks that are everywhere.

Yes you can connect all that stuff to a laptop, although the number of USB ports will be limited and you have to connect and disconnect them all the time. If you buy a laptop with a docking station, you can keep the peripherals plugged in to the dock and then just slip your laptop in and you're good as gold.

There are advantages/disadvantages to both. You can pretty much hook anything up to a laptop that you could to a desktop. It really depends on how mobile you want to be with it. It's a tad more expensive to fix something that breaks on a laptop than a desktop. Whatever you buy, get a decent warranty.

What you first have to do is analyze what are you going to do with the computer in the sense of..... traveling. Do you need to carry and travel with your computer???

If not? Buy a desktop.

Why?
- It's cheaper (in the same brand) than a laptop.
- You can expand further and easier than a laptop.
- The desktop processor is always slightly more power full.
- More reliable in the same brand than a laptop.
- Less problems with drivers than a laptop.

Why a laptop?
- Easy to travel with.... outside and inside the living parameters.
- Using wireless with the travel option (hot spots)

A laptop can make the same connections as a desktop. If you want portability, get the laptop.
