Since the President is approving extended stays in Iraq (through his Generals) for the troops already there, and Iran is becoming a real threat, way more than Iraq, how else are they going to fill military positions?

How do parents feel about a draft?

How do boys over 12 feel about a potential draft ?

My son is in Iraq now and is due to come home in August but I doubt if that will happen.
They will probably "extend" him (even though his 8 year commitment is over in October they can still just keep "extending" him.). Sad but true.

So what do you think?

Remember that the only people calling for a Draft are Democrats!

This is a matter of great concern, but if the draft takes place it will be during the Bush administration and not after his term expires, hopefully after that most soldiers will return home and policies of war will take a turn towards peace making , our own government (u s)should be concerned about the lives of young lads beeing sent to war overseas, I wonder how the president is able to sleep at night with the thought of 3000 + plus american lives lost and many more disabled during the iraqi conflict.
What have we gained besides the satisfaction of having elimnated Saddam and ruining iraq ? I dont think loosing a single american life for the cause was worth.
We can do nothing to stop the president from taking such drastic step such as restarting draft, that will only make some youngsters drastically violent towards their own government and result in a much worst scenario than the one experienced during the vietnam war days draft.
Lets pray that the president starts loving all american citizens and children as his own family and not as if they were some form of machine.

Yes, there will be a shortage of troupes and I am sure they will.
I do not feel that they will not reinstate the draft just yet, if they do at all. Yes, there will be a shortage of troupes and I am sure they will. They may recall many who have served overseas and those who had served in the general services. There are many in my town who may be called again. I am not sure is they can do this.
My feelings on the draft is this...I pray they will not reinstate the draft. I grew up before and during the Nam War...Enough said.
I will keep your son in prayer.
As for the US going into Iran...If we do, it will not be for a long while. The earliest in my opinion would be late, 2008.
I have two daughters who if drafted may be rejected due to health,etc.. This is a concern for me. No, I prefer for them to serve our Country in other ways. I have never believed Women should be on the front lines. It is bad enough that our men have to.
It would be ideal if there was no need to be at war. I know this is but wish full thinking.

I hope NOT!!!!.......This is 2007, not 1967, not the same mindset our youth of today......They don't have the "loyalty" to the country, as in "older" days when the entire family would gather around the TV set to listen to the president, instead they find another cable channel or play a video game.....As far as getting our "inner city youth" off the streets, they aren't going to draft "non high school diploma people", Bush is going to go after the graduates.....Personally, would you want to be fighting a war with someone who Volunteered to join, or was forced to go. I wouldn't want my life depending on someone who was forced to go!!!!!! Bush is a friggen idiot, let him send his granddaughters, and all the senators and congress's kids!!!!! Bet they don't get drafted!!!! If he does this. And if he does, I predict a huge display of anti Bush anti draft chaos like we haven't seen since the 60's!!!!!!! big friggen mistake!!!!

I HOPE SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it will get all these youths out of the business of inner city violence. let them take all that to the war zone. what you get is less crime and thinning out of the population of out of work children wanting to tag walls and destroy our property.
eeeeeerm.....tho these children are too much of cowards to be useful to the military
