The only case I've ever experienced similar to this is where a package was delivered to the wrong address.

UPS sucks.

There are about 3 or 4 package distribution centers in the US where all our high value packages get ripped open and the contents lost. They will fight you tooth and nail to get your money back.

Are you the shipper or the receiver?

Only the shipper can file a claim with UPS. You need to get a claim number first, fill out their forms, include your proof (invoices packing list etc).

If the box has been discarded then UPS cannot prove that the damage was not caused by them. INSIST on a them paying for the damages AND do not forget to claim the freight.

They will either pay quickly, or give you a rough time. Just stand up for yourself, be polite and calm, and tell them to prove it wasn't their fault. If you can't get satisfaction with the person you are dealing with, just ask to escalate the situation to the next level.

Good luck.

Someone definitely tampered with it. I hope UPS investigates and gives you the answer or compensates you for the lost contents.
