O = Officer
This is the person in charge of properly recording and reporting the financial results of operations.
Another term is Comptroller. Sometimes, an entity will have a CEO instead of, or in addition to, a CFO. A CEO is a Chief Executive Officer.

In standard terms it's been related to Chief Financial Officer, which is a title one person has.
But sometimes they used as well for a department which supports the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) without having 1 financial person and in that case it means Controlling Financial Organization or Office.
