I feel for you. I think you should go to your doctor and have him/her evaluate the medicines you are on.

Some natural things you can try are probiotics - they're in yogurt. Fish oil pills - Omega 3s reduce inflammation. Blueberries are also good. Some say dairy can irritate your digestive system.

You may also need a support group or some counseling. Although stress/depression doesn't cause it it can sure bring it on.

Good luck I hope you find some answers and start to feel better soon.

After dealing with Crohn's for 30 years and having 7 surgeries I would have to say each case would be different. It is not so much as what disease is worse as it is how do we chose to deal with our disease. As terrible as Crohn's can be at times I don't believe it can determine how long we live. My parents and I were told many years ago that I would live to be about 30 years old, I am 45 now. I think it is more of when we decide to give up that controls if we die from Crohn's or not. I also think the medications for Crohn's are more dangerous then the disease is.

I can't say what you could do, but I knew somebody who had it and he sure couldn't lead a normal life. He was about thirty and landed in the hospital and then had to move in with his parents 500 miles away. That was about thirty years ago and I don't know how much therapy has progressed. I've lived long enough to see plenty of medical progress happen.

Of course you can, if you accept your condition as your new "normal". It is just a matter of adjusting to your daily routine. Seek support groups that cater to your condition.
