Show a cross-section of a large sphere (half a basket ball filled with plaster, etc.) and use paint and labels to show interior layers plus the ocean and land. A little cotton could represent clouds (in the atmosphere. Good luck.

The good idea which seems to me is have a computer display every thing which ever you want to show, this is the only and low cost idea, what ever you need for your project can be searched from the world wide web(Internet),and placed at one point. I don't want to limit your searching by mentioning some links, as when you are browsing your thoughts may change and will bring the exact thing which you are looking for your project.

maybe you could make a puzzle out of a foam ball (Nerf)? Or you could use Styrofoam or any material that is used to shape a ball and can be cut into pieces accurately enough to create a world puzzle.
You could have a piece that is shaped like a volcano and when the piece is lifted from the base... an erruption of sorts takes place.

Take a large relatively round onion. You have the layers of earth and the skin could represent the thin layer of atmosphere. You also can squeeze it a little to give onion juice as lava. You can also cut it in half to show the layers.
But be carefull: some juice might shoot out into your teachers eye. Bad...NOT!!!

easy, just take sphere-shaped fruit and make the Earth and moon. Tell how the moon phases work by shining a flashlight(sun) on the moon and how the moon revolves around the earth
