A family history of abuse is a huge factor, as is drug or alcohol abuse by parents/family.Mental illness also rates a mention.A new patner may also be seen as a risk. But children can also be abused for no particular reason and if you have any worries or doubts about a child you should seek profesional advice.

Going places alone
Not having ppl to talk to about problems
Being put in situations by parents that arent thought out
Parents not paying attention to the types of ppl their kids are put with or around.
It is the parents who make the child vulnerable to these things.
As parents we must know what kinds of ppl we bring into our childrens lives.

I used to work for a children's charity which had a lot of programs for children who had experienced abuse.

1 - Mental and Physical disability
2 - Special Needs
3 - Being overly trusting of others and strangers
4 - Not being able to communicate in the common language of the country.

There are a lot, but these are the main ones that come to mind for me.
