depends on if you want to go with the traditional pink and blue, or stay with neutral colors

I would say definately yes. As a mum of two (one girl and one boy) It would have been much cheaper and easier if I had known my second child was a boy. A lot of things although "unisex" really are only suitable for one or the other. So lots of things were either exchanged or passed on to other people as they weren't very boyish. Also if you know what sex baby you are having you can plan for the future and ask that if people buy you gifts could they possibly buy size 6-9months or perhaps even 9-12 months, that way when all the hype of new baby has calmed down you will still have some lovely baby gifts to use and no huge expense buying new clothes just when your maternity pay stops!
Hope all goes well with little one.

I liked knowing so I could shop ahead. I got to shop the clearance items from Gap and Gymboree while pregnant. I got a lot of cute stuff for super cheap. I mean layette sets for $6 from gap. I got a bunch of boy ts from Gymboree at 99 cents each. Plus many other great bargins.
It allowed me to do it at my own pace w/o being rushed for fear I wouldn't have stuff while pregnant. I did get some neurtral stuff, but it's so hard to find. You'll mostly find pink, blue, and maybe some yellow. If I had found more white I may not have found out...

I don't think so. A lot of people plan for greens and yellows because the test has been wrong before. If you want to know then by all means find out. You can decorate really cute regardless and you don't have to go into the hole to do so. I know several people who have picked themes out and stuck to them. For example: Noah's Ark, Barnyard Babies, Bugs in the grass, an Ocean theme is very cool and so is a Nautical one. One couple I know are cops and decorated it for a baby copper! You can take this and run with it for any armed forces babies or nurses or doctors, sorry I am getting broody and carried away, you get the idea.

It probably would work out cheaper but I had a friend who was told she was expecting a girl and bought lots of pink items and a t 36 weeks was told the baby was a boy. Everthing had to be taken back and swapped.

well sure because most layettes are gender based in color and design and unless your a big fan of yellow or green its best to know in advance.

I would make sure if the baby is male or female. My cousin was told she was having a girl and her grandmother bought $220 worth of girl's clothes and he turn up a boy. Have several sonograms to make sure because the kid was cross legged for 7 months

I think it does and it makes it easier for other people to buy for baby , too. When my son was born we had to redocorate our nursery because the Hello Kitty pink on pink wasnt the colors we wanted for him.I was really glad to know for sure that I was having a boy so I wasnt doing the football room for a little girl!!!

no because you just buy a few cream, yellow and white things to see you through the first week or so then all the gender associated clothes start piling up from the relly's!.
