the pill is a one a day dose that you need to take every day about the same time.. the shot you get once every 3 months in the arm or butt..
i prefer the shot cuz i did not have to remember to take a pill every day and my periods stopped. which was really nice.. the down fall with the shot is that you gain more weight the on the pill..
i was on the shot for 7+ years and loved it except for the weight gain but for me it was worth it and when i got off the shot i dropped all that weight in a couple of months.. the reason i got off the shot was my dr did not want me on it any longer than 10 years.
if you have any other ?'s email if you like.. or good luck in deciding which is best for you..

You've received a lot of strange answers which seem ill-informed and might confuse you even more. Firstly, the birth control pill is a medicine like any other and all medicines can have side effects. Some women suffer more than others. I have been taking the pill for 8 years and the only side effects I have experienced have been positive. For example, lighter, less painful periods and clearer skin. Secondly, millions of women throughout the world take birth control pills and go on to have families afterwards. Do not worry about this. Thirdly, yes, a woman can become pregnant even if she takes the pills, but it is rare. Pills are 99% effective, and are MORE effective than condoms. If you are really worried, you can use a condom too to be extra safe. Regarding your question about how many per month is safe to take, a woman takes one pill every day. This is how you are supposed to take it. I am assuming through all this you are talking about the contraceptive pill, NOT the morning after pill (some call it the abortion pill). Now that is a whole different kettle of fish and should only be used in emergencies. If you ARE talking about the morning after pill, I suggest you rephrase your question as the answers will be very different.

Mini pill has a narrow window of administration and if you forget to take it you have 3 hours to remember and if not need to take an alternative form of contraception for 7 days. Combined pill has a 12 hour window so is better if you sometimes forget. Injection every 8-12 weeks depending on product. You may also want to consider an implant which is very small and goes in the top of your arm and is hardly noticable, this method can last for about 2 years.

Its really up to you. Look it up in a search engine or look on
www.plannedparenthood.org
or
www.teenwire.com
With the pill you have to take it at the same time every day just missing it by a few hours could result in pregnancy(happend to a friend, she missed her pill by 8 hours and now have a beautiful baby) you only have a frame of two hours to take the pill, say you take it at 7 am every day, the latest you could take it is 9 am.
with the shot there is now a black box warning on it because if used for i think two years or more can cause a problem with bone density and something else (sorry not too much help with that but go to goodle and type in "depo shot" and click the first link it tells you everything)
Also with the shot you shouldnt take it if you have a history of depression. with the shot you have to make an appointment every 3 months but deffanitly go to those websites, and the one off of google they will help A LOT!

pill - you have to remember to take it everyday plus if your planning to having children in the future i would say the pill. you stand a better chance of your fertility getting back to normal.
injection - you have the injection every 12 weeks which is great if you don't plan on having any children because it does take up to 6-12 months for your fertlity to come back. i came off the injection back in sept and im still trying to get pregnant.
The injection can also do a number of things it can make women put weight on, it can make women loose weight, it can make women have heavy periods it can also stop them altogether.
hope this helps

Theres loads of differences. You have to take the pill every day whereas the injection is only every three or so months.
Both can have side effects tho so you should go see your doctor and have a chat about them and thier side effects.
A friend of mine had the injection, when she came off she gained lots of weight.
The patch is a good option, but it's not readily prescribed.

Well the pill u have to remember everyday I use that cuz I am not big on the other options as I don't like shots & I heard bad things about the other options as weight gain & messing up of the cycle. Choose whichever is best for you.
