I have from her word of mouth a few others looking this done its easy to do but these people don't know how at all,im not looking to get rich and say its ok for free but they are insisting ,I have no idea what to charge yet if it keeps happening I cant keep doing it for free.
Any suggestions?

I charge about £25 for the first hour and then £15 per hour thereafter. 1 hour and 1 min counts as 2 hours. I would add a word of caution though. Your Aunts PC sounded like a relatively easy fix, the next one you try could be a nightmare. Unless you are incredibly confident don't get in over your head. A screwed Windows ME installation with critical data for example can be a living hell to rescue. IT@tonicweb.co.uk

Whilst what you did will have worked just fine 99 times out of 100, its simply not necessary to reinstall Windows and all its programs. Think of sledgehammers and nuts.

From the details you have provided it seems you don't have much of a technical background. (Thats not meant to be a criticism - I admire you for taking it on and solving the problem). With the level of skills I think you are at, you are very very soon going to get into a situation which you can't fix, and worse, you'll make the person computer unusable.

You're taking on a big risk accepting money for doing stuff you have limited knowledge about. Are you prepared to get sued when you stuff up someone's computer?

I do this and you're all pretty close to what should be charged, it takes me on average depending on the problems 15 to 30 mins to fix problems. I charge $59.00 an hour and people are really quite pleased to pay it.

Circuit Ciy and Best Buy charge $80 to do virus removal in-store (not including data backup) They charge $240 to do it in-home. You can get $50 easily.

Charge about $60 an hour or so....that way you are making some dough and not exploiting your friends.
