Why is time capitalized in The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe?

Maybe it symbolizes the short amount of time left (till death)....I remember going over this in college and there being a lot of different opinions all stemming from this general idea that time is weighing on the characters - and it's capatalized for a reminder. Hope this helps a bit. :)
