Nepal is a free country. It doesn't "belong" to anyone.

In case you are talking about the monarchy there,
the king's powers have been greatly reduced, and Nepal is now a Democracy, with a powerless king, like UK.

There was constitutional monarchy in Nepal where people exercise right of adult franchise. The elected Prime Minister heads the government.

I think in reality Mr. Prachanda, whose real name is Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the leader of Nepal's former communist rebels wields major influence on present day Nepal's fate.

The Maoists under the leadership of Prachanda began peace talks last year with the government, eventually signing a peace accord with the government under which they joined an interim Parliament last month. They are also scheduled to join an interim government that would conduct the election. But this has been delayed by months, angering the former guerrillas.

Prachanda, the chief of Nepal's Maoist guerrillas, said 'Some Hindu extremists from India, who do not want to see monarchy abolished in Nepal, are inciting the violence. They are causing chaos, terror, arson and vandalisation. The Indian government has been supporting the ongoing peace process in Nepal but the extremists are associated with the ruling parties. Though he did no name these parties, Prachanda however directly accused the US Ambassador in Nepal James Moriarty of causing provocation.

So, in a way, the Nepal though belongs to Nepalese people now, but the behind the scene strings are pulled by the USA and India, the way they have done in Bangladesh in recent months and years in the name of helping restore democracy.
