The Sri Lankans. The Wanniyala-Aetto were there first
I represented Colombo in our high school UN mockup, calmly denying problems I knew nothing about.
While the Island is close to India it is a seperate country entirely. I'm led to believe on the 4th of February 1948 Caylon (as the country was called at the time, till the 22nd of may 1978) was abbandoned (given independance) by Brittain.
Internet sources are falsified and opinionated in my opinion regarding the state of affairs at the moment. From what I gather their Democracy is moddld after France, they are and have been an ally of the US and UN, racial tentions are strained but holding firm.
I hope i've helped, Sri Lanka in not a communist state or a dictatorship. Not a land to drive tanks through yet.
Well the army is about heart's & minds, you aim at the chest and head i'm told. Irrelevant joke, it's late, i'm tired.

The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka belongs to its citizen.
Sri Lanka has been subject to centuries of Portuguese, Dutch and British domination. From the time of independence in 1948, the legal system of Sri Lanka has developed into a complex mixture of English common law and Roman-Dutch, Sinhalese, Muslim, and customary law.
The increasing awareness of group identities and how they perceive themselves in the national collective have challenged many countries to redefine themselves in terms of their national identities. For instance, the perception of the past President Chandrika Kumaratunga was that all citizens of Sri Lanka are part of a single national collective: hence the statement, "We are Sri Lanka - One country One People" (Daily News, Sept. 2, 1997). On the other hand, the perception of the Sri Lankan Tamil community is that they are a separate and distinct nation, implying that Sri Lanka is a country with at least two nations, thereby challenging the concept of a single nation.
The consensus, therefore, is that a nation needs a state. A state needs territory. Recognizing this need the Sri Lankan Tamil community resolved at Vaddukoddai in 1976 to create the "State of Tamil Eelam". They resolved that to win territory they needed to adopt a two pronged strategy. One was the use of force and the other was the long term approach of negotiation. Force meant considerable sacrifice in terms of human life, but was considered justifiable on grounds of expediency. The objective of the negotiated approach was to win acceptance of territory based on entitlement.
Diversity is an integral part of all societies. But despite these differences, the universality of the human condition is that all yearn to find satisfaction in a life that would have a meaning and a purpose for themselves and their families. It is only by integrating diverse groups politically while protecting their culture, that conditions can be created for the fulfillment of such yearnings.
