Absolutely NOT!! Go for a natural childbirth - the recovery time is less and there are far less complications. I have had 2 sections and although people think its because you're 'too posh to push' mine were for medical reasons. It is horrible afterwards, you can't walk properly for ages, you can't drive, you can't do housework, I got an infection too which was horrible.
I laboured with my first child and although it wasn't pleasant, it didn't kill me! There is nothing to be scared of these days, if you really are that worried, just ask for every drug going......

It's absolutely not better. In the normal case where the natural way is possible, caesarean is much more risky, plus it will be more painful after and for much longer. This method is not for scared little girls but to ensure safety of mother and baby if there is a problem with the natural method.
Use epidural as written before. My wife did, it's ok.

hi, i wouldn't recommend a caesarean section i feel that it is the easy way out and you are also left with scars, can't lift heavy things incase your stitches split and there can be complications.(its quite rare for complications, but not impossible)
i have had 2 children naturally without any pain relief. i'm not going to lie to you it does hurt anyone that says it doesn't is lying. it is actually more painful in the first stage of labour than actually giving birth. if you are worried about the pain then you could have an epidural so you don't feel any pain from the waist down. but any discission you make is up to you.

No matter how you do it, it's going to cause some measure of pain. I did it natural & while it did hurt, I was over it, up & moving around about 45 minutes after my daughter was born.
I know a woman who had all four of her kids by C Section & says it's not too bad. Either way you go, it is going to come with some pain. But the pain is forgotten very quickly.
Good luck & best wishes which ever route you choose!

G'day Poopsy,
Who is making you fear a natural birth?
Who is "in your ear" telling you of this pain?
Before you go looking for the Caesarean section option, go to some mothering classes in your area, or at least speak with a female doctor.
Childbirth does have it's moments (being a father, I have the scars to prove it, hahaha) but I have seen the smile of happyness and Love and Joy of when the mother has given birth through her own actions.
I think you need to re-think.
Good Luck, Rod

Unless you are absolutely phobic of giving birth naturally, the doctor will usually not be impressed with you getting a ceasarean. I know that post-ceasarean recovery can take a long time and you probably won't be in any state to know what's going on for a while after the baby is born. If you do go for a natural birth there are so many drugs and procedures to help with pain, these can be discussed and arranged with your midwife or doctor.
I don't blame you for being scared of natural birth though, i'd be terrified and i don't think i'd like it very much either! But just remember that both natural labour and ceasareans have their own plus points and negatives and you'll have to weight them up and make your own decision without being pressured into it by others (beware particualrly of people who believe that the only 'proper' way of giving birth is natural, and that if you have a ceasarean you're a failure as a mother and are a failure as a human being).

I've never had a c-section, but I've had 2 natural childbirths. It isn't all that bad, really. You just have to let go of your fear and let your body do it's thing. It knows what it is doing. You have to take one contraction at a time and just focus on having your baby in your arms. You can do it!! You will heal much faster with a vaginal birth, than with a c-section. Congratulations!!

No, it isn't better....honestly. I've had two through necessity. A caesarian is a major operation which takes times to get over. There are the usual risks associated with anaesthesia too.
If you are afraid of the pain...there is so much pain relief you can have now. Have you thought about an epidural? There are other injections they can give you too...plus the gas and air.
I would strong advise you NOT to have a caesarian unless it becomes medically necessary.
Another reason not to is that your abdomen is never quite the same after a caesar there is a slight bulge above the scar line.
Best wishes for the upcoming event!

if i were you, i'd strongly suggest NOT to opt for the knife and go natural. with an epidural.
ok i'm a guy and will never know the joy and pain of child birth, but i have had an epidural following surgery on my spine.
trust me an epi is the best pain blocker in the world!
a C section should only be considered for emergency reasons, besides which if you opt for the surgery you will have a scar for many many years.
besides which there is always the chance of a mistake which could cause you to bleed to death.
or at least that is my understanding of the issue.
what ever you decide good luck!

I had an emergency caesarean with my 1st child and if you're scared of pain don't go there. It is not an "easy" option. You have no feeling from the waist down and are unable to look after you're baby properly for the 1st few hours. I was also very unwell afterwards with a suspected blood clot on my lung and was unable to get out of bed for several days. I wasn't allowed to feed my baby for 24 hours or hold her for 12 hours. I was on oxygen and had a heperin drip!!
Lots of my friends have had problem free natural deliveries and left hospital a few hours after giving birth.
My advice would be that if you have a problem free pregnancy have a vaginal birth with plenty of pain relief!!
