I was dating a guy that lived five hours away one year. We had been dating for 6 years. He asked me what I wanted for V-Day and I told him I wanted 6 balloons, 6 roses and candy. So, I was at home and waiting all day for the delivery (I worked weekends at that point in my life). Finally the door bell rang and I looked out the peep-hole and saw a bunch of balloons. I opened the door and there HE was--6 balloons, 6 roses and candy! I felt so special that he would drive 5 hours to spend Valentine's Day with me!!
Then he went out to dinner and he spent the entire night watching basketball. So--it was the best memory and the worst at the same time! LOL!
We don't date anymore but we are still really good friends.

Best gift: One year, I was really busy at work traveling and didn't have much time to think about buying my wife a valentine's gift. So what I did was to send her an evite titled, "Find your present on M-Street." (M-street is in Georgetown - Wash. DC) Instead of buying her something that she'll hate, or be dissappointed, I let her pick out what she wants and planned the entire day for her to do so. During this shopping spree, I have made reservations for lunch and dinner. She loved the present because she gets to buy what she wants, and spend time with me, since I'm always away on business.
Worst gift for my wife was a stereo system for her car. She didn't really care for it, I thought it was nice, but I should have listened to see what she really wants, not what I think she needs.

you asked for best memory. My dad's lifelong friend died in the wee hours of the morning on V-day which is also my parents anniversery. The man who died was best man at their wedding. We all thought that dad was to overcome with grief to even think of anything else. He surprised my mom with tickets to a romantic get away at WI Dells. She had always wanted to go there. We found out he made the reservations after he found out about his friend.
Worst: My Senior year in H.S. I got 3 dozen roses from 3 different guys. That's when I found out I am allergic to roses!

MY BEST MEMORY WAS WHEN I WENT TO SCHOOL ON VALENTINES DAY, THEY CALLED ME DOWN TO THE OFFICE I GOT THERE I HAD A DOZEN RED ROSES, YELLOW ROSES AND WHITE ROSES.
I READ THE CARD AND IT SAID "ROSES ARE RED, VIOLETS ARE BLUE, THESE ARE FROM YOUR MOTHER, I LOVE YOU.
THE WORST WAS WHEN I GOT THE FLU ON VALENTINES DAY. SO I WAS SICK THE WHOLE WEEK.
