A suspension is a mixture of a solid and a liquid where the particles are large enough to see and they will settle out if left. Muddy water is a suspension. After you shake it up and let it stand the particles will settle to the bottom.

A suspension is the act of suspending something,a bridge.an object on a crane or a fine piece of earthy material in water.
So muddy water must be a suspension.
