Depends on what you are looking for. Close to the nightlife? something quiet? I was in the King's Cross area and I didn't like that too much because it seemed a little dodgy. It was also loud at night. Then I found a room to hire from a British family south of the river and I really enjoyed the quiet suburb. It was near the borough of Forest Hill and it was rather quiet but I heard from other Londoners that it could be "dodgy." I would recommend anything out of zones 1 and 2 on the tube map because it's a little cheaper, but keep in mind the cost of transportation. Hope this helps.

North London is a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to live South of the river or in the East or West. I've lived and worked all over London and I love it, but it's expensive, crowded and dirty as well as exciting, modern and culturally diverse.

It's not for everyone, but you won't know unless you try it ;o)

yes.
Live anywhere, depending on your budget.
There are so many different areas it is immpossible to start listing but as a guide try and stay whithin the north/south cirular road. This isnt the M25 which is the big motorway ring road, its the ring road in from that and splits the city proper from the suburbs. Have fun!
