The Pill is 92-99.7% effective as birth control. Male condoms are 85-98% effective. Abstinence is 100% effective. :)

The woman must take the birth control pills as directed or they will fail. If she misses a pill or two, it throws the whole system off and other protection should be used as well as the pill until the following month. No, they are not 100%, but more reliable than a condom as long as the pill is being taken responsibly.

The only 100% effective method of birth control is abstinence. I became pregnant while taking the pill and a condom may have a small tear that is not visible to the naked eye.
