We have a venetian blind, but we don't know how to hang it. I'm assuming it's a case of drilling holes, and screwing it to the wall. Any suggestions or tips?? We're hanging it from the ceiling above a deep alcove window, it's made to measure so the size is perfect , we just don't know how to hang it.

Well once you have worked out the area you want to cover with it mark the holes-putting a pencil through the attaching bracket holes in the blind after making very sure it is level using a spirit level. Drill the two holes, put in two rawlplugs and then hold blind up whilst you screw the blind to the wall. Good luck. Check there are no electrical wires/pipes nearby or running through the area you are going to drill

there are two aspects to this.
First is marking where it is to be fixed, you need to offer the blind up to the place you want it, you then need to make sure it is level by measing from a fixed point or using a spirit level. Then mark the spot through each of the fixing brackets.

Fixing depends on what you are fixing too, if it is the wall and its a brick wall you will need a masonary drill and raw plugs.
If it is a hollow wall ie plaster board you will need the appropriate fixing for this.
If your are fixing to the ceiling ideally you need to locate the joists and use wood screws to go through the plasterboard into the wooden joists, (this could be done on a plasterboard wall aswel)
or if you cant locate the joist use plasterboard fittings

Another possability is if the walls are plasterboard stuck on to a wall, again you would need plasterboard fixings.

the blind should come with some brackets they screw to the wall then the blind sits on the brackets held by a screw make sure you line the brackets up with the holes on the blind before attatching them to the wall and if you have one use a spirit level to line the blind up hope that helps and one other thing don't rush the job take your time

As the blind is made to measure, you may need to screw a wooden batten to the wall or ceiling to screw the blinds header box to, in order to put it in the correct position.

If you bought it custom made ask the people you bought it from what hardware they recommend. Then get fasteners appropriate for your type of wall and hang that hardware with the aid of a level.

If you weren't the buyer bring it to a window treatment store and ask for their recommendations on hanging it.
