theres nothing wrong with you there nothing else to socialising except for communicating to people and being comfortable with silences.

I find it very hard to socialise. I do feel different from other people and I feel that people might not like me as I don't like myself much. So I am a bit of a loner with odd habits like taking late night walks and eating garlic sandwiches :-)
So you aren't alone.

Not very good a general chit chat - in situations were I don't know people I'm really shy. My nightmare would being stuck at a party or meeting or social gathering and having to make idle converation with people I don't know...

I can be a bit timid and this has led to people walking all over me and taking advantage, so I definitely need to brush up on my assertiveness skills. Also I am a sucker for a sob story, I need to toughen up a bit!
