not in a gas engine
but in a diesel engine ive heard it will clean the system
this is highly debated among DIESEL/HEAVY EQUIPMENT mechanics especially old school ones. ive always been told to fill FUEL filters with dexron 2 or 3 during a schedule. but these are not modern vehicles we are talking about these are old diesel equipment. as for if it actually works or not i dont know but it doesnt seem to hurt it either as some of the equipment is 30+ years old and still runs great. again this is diesel equipment. this may be where this stemmed from though.

O.K Transmission fluid IS used to clean sticky valves, pump up down lifters and restore compression but not by adding to gas tank or oil!!! Just use about 2 to 3 tablespoons down the carb.or throttle body and caution it will smoke like no other for a little while maybe 4 to 5 miles driving normal.

Transmission fluid does not belong in the gas tank, unless you want to purposely ruin the running of your car. As far as tranny fluid in the crank case, are you having problems with he car shifting gears? If so take it to a shop that can replace the transmission fluid and filter for you. Transmission fluid should be replaced every 3 years.

A broker can in basic terms look below the vehicle to confirm if there's a visual leak, and probable ATF drops on the floor below the trans. You, the owner might desire to verify the ATF a week (or each one hundred miles) until you're particular there is not any loss of ATF. how many circumstances have you ever extra ATF? you're able to verify the ATF while the transmission is completely warmed up, on a point floor, ideally the comparable place a week. do no longer overfill the transmission.

What good do you want from adding transmission fluid. I can't see where it will help. Putting it in the gas tank will produce lots of smoke and probably fowl up the plugs.

I do know that if you put 100% trans fluid in an engine and drove for a week it would destroy an older engine.
10 years ago Castrol filled many 10/40 engine oil bottles with trans fluid. I had a case of these bottles and unknowingly used them. It destroyed a 100,000 mile engine in about a week.
Castrol paid for the engine.

Years ago people would drain all of the oil and replace it with trans fluid, then run the vehicle for approx.15 minutes.
the reasoning behind this was that trans fluid is a high detergent lubricant and would "clean"the engine.Todays oils are significantly better with more additives and detergents making the old way unessesary.never put any type of lubricant into your fuel system.

This is gonna sound goofy, but i have seen people dump a little tranny fluid through the carburator while its running. It suppose to free sticky valves but i really dont know if it works or not but it was fun to see all that smoke blowing out of the tailpipe!!

Why would you want to do that and who gave you that idea??
You'll just foul up your injectors and smoke the neighborhood out if you put it into your tank. If you put it into your engine you'll thin out the oil.

ONLY ONE THING GOOD, IF YOUR ENGINE IS FULL OF SLUGE FROM NEVER CHANGING THE OIL, PUT A QUIRT OF TRANS FLUID IN THE OIL, DRIVE AROUND A WEEK OR SO , DRAIN AND CHANGE OIL, HELPS CLEAN OUT AND REMOVE SLUDGE, BUT AS FOR PUTTING IT IN THE GAS,, WHAT FOR??????????
