Maybe weird isnt the right word .. not ironic either..just wrong, i suppose! I mean - James Blunt's music -v- Jim Morrison's music....i just dont see it

Totally. It's not right, but these things happen.
Never mind, when Blunt is gone and forgotten, the Doors will still be revered!

If you're referring to "So Long Jimmy", then no it's not weird. He was influenced by Jim Morrison, and I can see that in his lyrics. Jim Morrison was very poetic and so are a lot of James' songs.
BTW-it's also a tribute to Jimi Hendrix

i don't think weird is the right word. it's a joke to me. i find it hard to believe that James blunt could do Jim Morrison's (or Jimi Hendrix's for that matter) music justice. i think tribute albums are insulting to the original artist. it's one thing to do a cover of a song, it's entirely different to try to capitalize off of someones music by making an entire cover album just because your career is faltering. i see this album becoming the butt of many jokes.

Any kind of tribute to Jim Morrison is weird. The guy's been dead 35 years. He made great music but his personal life was a mess: drugs, alcohol, promiscuity which lead to him dying before he reached 30. A musical genius who self destructed.

Nothing to make it weird if it was a tribute.
James Blunt has his own way of doing things just like everyone else. That does not make him weird at all. God made us all different.
