Not really. By that age a person would normally have learned to control thier emotions to a certain extent. However, if the person has been poorly cared for or abused, then tantrums would be a pretty normal reaction.

Although not normal, it happens. My 11 year old threw a tantrum last year. What I guessed happened was she was frustrated, confused and her developing brain couldn't deal with it, so she pitched fit.

She cried it out in her room.

Not normal but not out of the range of possibility. Some adults exhibit childish behaviour when their other defenses fail.
