The '0' on Tony Blair's door looks like it has rotated to the left. I asume it's been like this for a very long time, does anyone know why? It bugs me!

Number Ten Downing Street is a Georgian property and therefore no imbelishments are allowed to the facia of the building and that includes the front door and it's number and the fanlight above. The zero in the ten is slanted left as was common 200 year ago. I stood outside number 10 as a boy and young man, on the doorstep. You cannot do this today because of the security fence, the guards with guns and all the rest of the Thatcherite nonsence which separates the governed from the governors.

In Great Britain it is an age old custom that when a person is considered "crooked" then their address is placed on their home crooked. When the British people get tired of George Bush's secret brother as PM then there is every possibility that the 0 on Downing street will be aligned properly.
