Yes they are impractical and have health and safety issues for our society, not to mention the security issue.

I live the states, so perhaps I have a different point of view, but I do not support banning the veil. I think it would antagonize muslims even further. I think allowing people freedom of expression is an important thing, whether its political or religious. I wear a Che Guevara tshirt, which I am sure pisses off a lot of conservatives here, but I have the right to do it.
I am rather disturbed by the hatred directed against muslims right now in western countries. I see parallels to what happened in Germany early in the 20th century with the Jews. Yes, I am upset with terrorism, but lets not generalize. I am an atheist. I have no use for religion personally, but I do not want to take anyone's religious freedom away.

if we're talking veil that covers the face, then yes i'm quite in favour of it, but as someone else said, it's very likely to antagonize the muslim community even further.
as a western woman, i feel very uncomfortable when in contact with muslim ladies who choose to cover their faces. i respect the hidjab (head scarf) as a sign of religious commitment, and would be very opposed to it being banned, but covering your face is a sign of submission to men, and i don't think it's right.
it basically assumes that all men are potential rapists, and that rape is the woman's fault, which is archaic and wrong.
it also seems strange to me that people with extreme religious convictions would choose to live in a western country, where almost everything in society goes against their belief.

i think they should ban it. as a security issue, not a religious issue.
in schools and work places all over the UK dresscodes and safety codes are kept, except by those that wear the veil. surely this is creating a racist divide?
not to mention the male muslims that left the country descuised as women in veils. ?!?!

No. In America we have the right to freedom of religion and expression. The veil falls under both of these categories.

to say that a Muslim is not supposed to wear her veil is like saying Christians shouldn't baptist their children. why ban something that u r told do wear in the holy book. every person wit a religion follows the holy book. why can't Muslims wear their veils it's not like we r goin to shoot the whole of UK. it's not like we r goin to start world war 3. americans have freedom of speech why can't we muslims have freedom of speech? we r only following our religion? i never heard that buddhist rn't allowed to shave their heads. nobody is threatening to ban the sikhs turbans huh? ur question is nothing but an offence to all muslims and even if which ever government bans the veil i'll wear it whether they or anyone else in this world likes it or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as you can see the face I would just leave it. The agenda behind this is to ban many other things. It's stupid!
