I have 5 kids the youngest of which will start full time school in September. I need to get a job but don't know what to do as I need to be free in the holidays. I've thought about doing PGCE but there is no college near where I live. Any suggestions?

You could work in a school as a teaching assistant or learning mentor.
I have a registered childminder who is unavailable to me during school holidays so that she can spend quality time with her own kids then- most of the other children she cares for have parents who teach so that she can achieve that goal. Having 5 children presumably means you like them(!) so that could be a direction to head in too.

Set up your own business ironing, sewing (a friend did that, she does really well now she has an overlocker), if you have a garden think of growing bedding plants to sell on car boot sales and local markets.

You could sell stuff on Ebay. Or look for local employers that allow you to work from home. With 5 kids, it sounds like you will have your hands full. :-)

Clean people's homes - choose your own hours, so you'll be in time to pick the kids up.
