No its not too much....If your period lasts for about 5 days and the maximum no. of tabs you should take per day is 6 max.(200mg) then that's almost 30!!! The down side is that you have to ensure you eat and don't take if you've got stomach ulcer cause it could worsen it. Also depending on painkillers most times is not so good for your liver. Using a hot water bottle gives almost the same relief as ibuprofen. I also take about the same dosage of ibuprofen cos iv got horrible pain at that time of the month but im now using a hot water bottle too....which has been very helpful.

I was given prescription anti-inflamitories as my period pain was so bad and I think ibuprofen comes uner that bracket.
I took about 10 per month in total and after a year of doing that I had severe stomach pains one day, not period pains but in my tummy instead.
Then my poo went black so I went to the docs.
Apparently the painkillers had made my stomach bleed inside....
Go to your GP for advice.....please.

Why is it you will trust the words of yahoo answer users over the leaflet that is supplied with the medication.

If you have taken them as instructed by the leaflet you will be ok.

You can have upto 400mg at a time 6-8 hourly, no more than 8 tabs (1600mg) in 24 hours.

You are having ten doses a month. As long as you are following precautions, such as eating before taking them etc (AS EXPLAINED IN THE LEAFLET!) you will be fine. They are not addictive either.

You be careful, hun. Yeah, take them from time to time, but that is too many. Put a hot water bottle on your tummy & take 2 tablets every so many hours, it should say so on the box. The hot water bottle will take the pain away a little. Have hot drinks. I've noticed that the more you drink the quicker the period, you flush it out. xxx

you are not supposed to take ibuprofen for more than 6 days in a row without consulting a doctor...and no more than 6 in a 24 hr period.

I think that you should take 1-4 a month. You should also take them with food as it's better and the pain killer doesn't eat at you stomach lining.

Sounds like a lot.
If you need to take that many to get you through it then it's time to see a doctor or gynaecologist; maybe there is something underlying that they can help with.

it sounds like a lot but then you are allowed to take 2 every 4 hours, and a period lasts about 5 days so probably not really! remeber to take them with food tho!
