Anyone have any input as to whether it is best to begin with diet first and then start increasing your activity or beginning both at the same time? I'm talking solely from the amount of weight your body will lose. I am just wondering if exercise and diet together impacts your metabolism differently than adjusting your diet and then adding exercise in slowly.

Start exercise and diet at the same time. The results will be very good at first, but the problem may come up when you gain a little muscle. That will take awhile, but when that happens you may see a drop in the number of pounds you are losing. Do not stop, though! You will still be losing inches - Your muscles burn more energy, so more muscles = more calories burned. This is why body builders can eat three times what others do. Keep after it even when you reach those plateaus and you'll find the inches keep falling off even though the scales don't show it. The scales will start to show it again as long as you continue what you are doing. Good luck - it's not an easy thing for most people to lose weight, but the rewards are priceless!

No, it is a perfect plan to combine diet and excercise. You will burn more calories that way (throughout the day, not just when you are excercising), so it will enhance the effects of your dieting.

The only drawback is you will be more hungry because of the exercising but if you eat after you exercise, you won't feel like having a big meal and the calories from taht meal will burn off faster than if you hadn't exercised. If you get hungry later, just make sure you snack on protein snacks that don't have a lot of empty carbs.

Everyone has a different metabolism. The best thing to do if you want to lose weight is eat less and exercise more. The best time to exercise is before breakfast - if you have your heart pounding for 20mins before you eat you will lose weight. If that means walking quickly for some people or running for others.

my guess is that you should start the exercise before restricting calories. otherwise you will suffer from some weakness/fatigue as you go through some food addiction withdrawal symptoms.

after the exercise has purified your body somewhat, restricting intake should be easier, but ultimately you should worry about eating the right foods instead of restricting your eating habits. just exercise more.

depends on the person.

If you burn more calories by exercising, you will lose weight faster, in conjunction with a calorie-controlled diet.
